I was quoted $1,100 for an LED panel installation on a part that seems to retail between $80–$100. Unless I’m missing something, $1,000 purely for labor feels excessive. Would this job take 8 hours? What is the hourly rate here? I was genuinely confused- and didn’t even feel comfortable to ask my questions as the tech made it clear he didn’t have time for them via tone and body language. When I expressed that confusion and hesitation, I was met with poor customer service. The technician spoke to me in a condescending tone and even asked, “Well, how much did you think it was going to cost?” — which felt dismissive and unprofessional. Isn’t providing a clear and reasonable quote the technician’s role? I have over 5 years of management experience, and while that may not mean much in this field, it’s more than enough to recognize when a customer interaction is handled poorly. In this case, the technician (Tim) was impatient, pushy, and seemed biased toward me based on my age. He insisted on “running it up the chain” for a decision even after I made it clear we would not be moving forward. I won’t be returning or recommending this company in any capacity. I’m not seeking outreach or follow-up — I simply want to share my experience in case the company holds itself to a higher standard than what was demonstrated.
